“One of the Best movies of the year 2007. Aamir lives upto his reputation. A definite soul stirrer“
Rating: Five Star
Comments: Must see
The central character of the movie is a bubbly eight year old child known by the name Ishaan Awasti. Ishaan is very weak in studies as compared to his elder brother who’s a topper.
Due to constant complaints from school authorities, his father decides to pack him off to a boarding school. Due to his seperation from his parents, Ishaan self confidence takes a deep plunge. His performance drops and he even stops painting.
At this time, Aamir joins the school as an Arts teacher. He’s unconventional, directly relates to students and tries to understand their problems. Aamir realizes that Ishaan is a dyslexic. In short, Ishaan has a learning disorder marked by impairment of the ability to recognize and comprehend written words.
When Aamir tries to explain the situation to his parents, it’s difficult for them to accept the fact. The scene where Aamir asks his father to read a few words in Chinese and then ridicules him that he cannot read it properly is awesome. Also the scene where his father meets Aamir at school and goes away without meeting his child is very touching.
The final scene when Ishaan receives an award in front of hundres of students will stirr your soul. It will leave you moist eyed.
The lesson from the movie is that every child has his own strengths. Parents should try to understand the strength and weakness of their child rather than burdening them with their own dreams.
